Up to eight pedestrians were injured when a driver lost control and ran off the road at a busy mall in Sydney’s north this afternoon.
The incident in Victoria Avenue, Chatswood, sparked a major response by emergency services.
CareFlight’s rapid response rescue helicopter was tasked along with additional medical teams sent by road and helicopter from the NSW Ambulance medical retrieval base at Bankstown.
Landing at Chatswood Oval, CareFlight’s specialist doctor and critical care paramedic ran to the scene, pushing their way through crowds to reach the most seriously injured pedestrian, a woman in her 20s.
After providing initial treatment for head and abdominal injuries, they escorted her in a road ambulance to Royal North Shore Hospital in a serious but stable condition.
