Four passengers who were injured when their car rolled in the Douglas-Daly region last night were taken to hospital in a stable condition thanks to the joint efforts of local responders, clinic staff and emergency services.

The single vehicle accident took place as the locally-based workers were driving home on the wet, gravel Oolloo Road.

The four passengers were transported to the nearby Douglas Daly Tourist Park, where they would rendezvous with the CareFlight Top End rescue helicopter shortly after 8pm.

St John Ambulance crews, an Adelaide River Remote Area Nurse and a team from a nearby mine all attended and assisted the patients. The quick response and actions of an off-duty nurse visiting the tourist park, and its staff, were also praised by CareFlight’s doctor and nurse.

CareFlight’s medical team treated a female and two males for various injuries, including to the head, face and leg. They transported the three passengers to Royal Darwin Hospital in a stable condition.

The driver was assessed with less serious injuries and transported by road with St John Ambulance to Royal Darwin Hospital.
