A man and a woman have been injured when their motorcycle collided with a car on Picton Road, Wilton.
The passenger, a 47-year-old woman, was thrown from the motorcycle and sustained serious head and chest injuries. She was knocked unconscious from the impact.
CareFlight’s Rapid Response Helicopter was tasked by NSW Ambulance at 12:50pm and landed 25 minutes later on the road, which was closed by NSW Police, close to the scene of the incident. NSW Ambulance paramedics were providing initial treatment for the man and woman.
CareFlight’s specialist doctor and NSW Ambulance critical care paramedic performed a clinical assessment on the woman and conducted an ultrasound to assess her injuries. A roadside blood transfusion was conducted and CareFlight’s clinical team intubated the patient and placed her in an induced coma to stabilise her.
The woman was taken by road in a critical condition with NSW Ambulance to Liverpool Hospital under ongoing observation from CareFlight’s clinical team.
The man was treated and transported by NSW Ambulance paramedics to Liverpool Hospital.
