More than 250 people attended a CareFlight Open Day over the weekend, enjoying a unique tour and variety of presentations from the team.

CareFlight’s dedicated staff gave visitors an insight into their roles, experiences, aircraft and equipment.

The day included a behind the scenes tour of CareFlight’s rapid response helicopter operations from Westmead, as well as an introduction to the Medi-jet air ambulance services flying across Australia and internationally.

After meeting CareFlight helicopter crews, visitors were introduced to a group of unsung heroes: the engineers, who described how they keep the aircraft ready to go at any moment’s notice.

Next was a stopover at our Medical Education centre. Here tour groups met a team who not only train our own doctors and nurses but deliver education and training programs for our partners in the chain of survival.

Families  enjoyed learning about the nationally mobile MediSim trauma training program which takes vital emergency care courses directly to communities that need them.

And of course a day at CareFlight wouldn’t be complete without a souvenir. Thank you to everyone who picked up one of CareFlight’s iconic fundraiser Bears!

Our sincere thanks to all those who made the day possible and everyone who came along.
